About the work:

The small, whitewashed church of Agios Ioannis, nestled at the foot of the rock. Above it, a structure rises up, built directly into the stone, towering over the church. The whiteness of the walls stands out starkly, whilst the sky seems almost dark, so harsh is the light. The line drawing captures this sense of overwhelming presence and silence. One senses the mineral, vertical presence that gently overwhelms the little chapel. The whole exudes the raw power of the Cyclades, between the dark sky and the dazzling walls.
