About the work:

On Castle Square in Warsaw, the silhouette of Sigismund’s Column is the first thing to catch the eye. In the distance, the simple, patina-covered roof structure of St John’s Cathedral harmonises with the Baroque bell tower of St Martin’s Church. Along the square’s frontage, the townhouses – restored after the war – display their colourful façades. The free-flowing lines evoke architectural elements, movement and the life of the city. Splashes of colour further enliven this iconic square, which stands as a symbol of survival. The whole creates a subtle balance between the memory of destruction and the beauty of reconstruction.
