About the work:

The gondola is there, moored to a palo, its black hull, with blue highlights, resting on the greenish water of the canal. No passengers, no movement. Just waiting, silence, and a gentle rocking. The drawing captures the elegant curve of this iconic Venetian vessel from an unusual perspective. The reflections are sketched with a vibrant stroke, whilst the facades in the background fade into a Venetian haze. A work that tells the story of the other Venice, the one that breathes between two movements, when the lagoon reclaims its rightful place.
